Mike broke into the racing scene, riding motorbikes in the '50s before moving to cars in '61. He first started racing Austin Healey Sprites from 1961-68, moving to Marcos and MGBs and then Chevrons from 1970-72. He then commenced scrutineering, becoming Chief Scrutineer at the BRDC, and later, MSA Technical Commissioner and FIA Technical Delegate.

Mike was a past Chairman of the Fellowship of the Motor Industry (FMI). In 2018, Mike became President of Healey Driver's Club. From authoring a book to frequently attending races, Mike remained a proud BRDC Life Member and passionate advocate for the Motorsport community.

Beyond his technical genius, Mike loved getting involved in the community. For several years, Mike created Buckingham Community Racing, which was an after school club for local teenagers, introducing them to karting. Furthermore, he was a member of the local Rotary Club, and PROBUS.
